Braswell Arts is a non-profit association dedicated to connecting the communities to high quality art while striving toward diversity in dance through networking and collaboration.
Founded in 2017 by Lisa and Armando Braswell and inspired by their international background and love for dance.
Our Mission to Change The World
After many years of thinking about a way to bridge the gap between the arts and the public, the Braswell Arts Association was born, offering high quality dance classes, arts camps, performances, concerts, exhibitions, and an accessible, interactive space for the Basel community.
As a child growing up in an insecure environment and deprived of a place to call home, I found solace in my rare interactions with dance and music. At 12 years old, I was given the amazing opportunity and support to pursue my creativity and train to become a professional dancer. Through Braswell Arts, I want to provide children with what I grew up lacking: access to a safe creative space where they can interact and grow with visual arts, dance, and music. After 4 years of activity, Braswell Arts is now developing: reaching out to a growing number of people, supporting numerous projects and individuals, and extending further into the urban landscape.
We are committed to making the world a better place, especially for children in need. We see them thrive in their artistic activities at the Center, and we are intent on providing them with more support and creative options, for longer periods. The Braswell Arts Association is serious about high quality programming that reaches a wide audience. It is important to us that all children and adults have access to arts events, no matter their income. We strive to establish a community of dance inspired art lovers.
